What’s happening?
Freeda Womb — a 20-foot-tall model of an IUD — will travel to five European capitals this November as a powerful symbol of the fact that sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and access to contraception are at risk worldwide.
Freeda isn’t just an art piece. She’s a symbol of freedom to make decisions about our own bodies, our futures, our lives. Because right now, that freedom is under threat.
What’s about?
This campaign is about reminding each other that women’s health is non-negotiable.
And this tour comes at a critical moment:
European donor cuts are putting contraceptive access at risk for millions of women. Around the world, 257 million women say they want to use modern contraception but can’t – and those numbers are set to grow.
In the meantime, $9.7 million worth of U.S.-funded contraceptives are being left to expire in Belgium — a cruel and avoidable waste that could meet the needs of 1.4 million women and girls in Africa.
Everyone should be able to live with dignity and humanity. We all deserve the freedom to decide if and when to have children, to be ourselves, to love who we love, and for our children to learn about safe, healthy, and happy relationships. By working together, we can help build communities where everyone can flourish and thrive.
That’s the world Freeda stands for —one where care, equality, and opportunity aren’t privileges, but basic human rights.
